KING’S ASSASSINATION (Los Angeles) – On Thursday, April 3rd, Brotherhood Crusade President and CEO Charisse Bremond Weaver, along with a delegation from the American Jewish Committee, Wilshire Boulevard Temple, First African Methodist Episcopal (FAME) Church and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) of Los Angeles, will travel to Atlanta, Georgia for the 40th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. During the Civil Rights Era, Jews and African Americans fought side-by-side against racial discrimination and white supremacy. Their combined efforts forced major changes in the political landscape of America. In keeping with that tradition, the delegation hopes their mutual participation will honor Dr. King’s desire for racial harmony and open dialogue between these communities. Upon returning, a Jewish/African American Seder will take place on April 17th. *** The Brotherhood Crusade is a 501©(3) nonprofit institution founded in 1968 to provide necessary resources, program services and a voice of advocacy to traditionally underserved communities.
