(Los Angeles) TV-One Chairperson and Radio One, Inc. Founder Cathy Hughes, this year’s Brotherhood Crusade Walter Bremond Pioneer of African-American Achievement Award honoree, will be joined by R&B duo Ashford and Simpson on Friday, November 2nd, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Husband and wife song writing factory Ashford and Simpson have been making beautiful music for themselves and others for more than four decades. They’re inexhaustible list of mega hits include “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “You’re All I Need To Get By”, “Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand”, “I’m Every Woman”, “Solid” and hundreds more. They have performed before sold out audiences all over the world and have managed to remain a step ahead of trends in Pop, R&B and Dance music. “We are delighted to have them as this year’s special entertainment. I know that Ashford and Simpson will have everyone standing on their feet,” said President and CEO Charisse Bremond Weaver.

Although the night will be filled with wonderful music and the remarkable Ms. Cathy Hughes, Ms. Bremond Weaver adds that the purpose of the evening is to raise much needed funds for residents of Los Angeles. “Corporate partnership is a critical aspect of Brotherhood Crusade’s expanded reach in the community. “Our alliances with Platinum level sponsor Washington Mutual; and Diamond level sponsors NBC 4, Northern Trust Northrop Grumman, Verizon, Microsoft, Bank of America and The Gas Company enable us to help people help themselves.”

Each year, the Brotherhood Crusade confers this award upon an individual of exceptional achievement in his or her field, one whose image we can hold up as a role model that our children can appreciate and strive to emulate. Past award winners include Berry Gordy, Muhammad Ali, Quincy Jones, Tavis Smiley, Rosa Parks, Magic Johnson, Stevie Wonder and our own Institution Builder, Danny Bakewell, Sr., among other luminaries.
